Job Description

As an Intern Developer at Jamieson, you'll collaborate with the development team to design and build applications that serve the growing needs of our business. Jamieson is expanding into new markets, transitioning onto a new ERP, working with companies like Deloitte, SAP and Kinaxis, and rapidly building up our architecture; we need candidates who are eager to overcome technical and business challenges, adapt quickly to new languages and projects, and consider the costs, scalability, and all business needs before they start churning out code.

The following are only some of the many projects and technologies you'll be working on:
  • Full Stack Fiori portal tiles and backend SAP enhancements through ABAP/UI5.
  • AWS application development with Lambda, Amplify, S3, Workmail, API Gateway, etc.
  • Data handling through Snowflake and DynamoDB, with Tableau reporting/analytics.
  • Requirements gathering and Blueprinting through Figma.
  • Version control across all of our projects through Github and BitBucket.
  • Python scripts for Excel data processing and analysis.
  • Informatica data integration, with PostgreSQL and Progress OpenEdge.
Now, I know what you're thinking. Why would you want to work at a 100-year old company and risk being rooted in tradition? Jamieson is an amazing place to work for several reasons:
  • Old Company, Startup Attitude: Jamieson is rapidly transitioning towards being a global leader in Health and Wellness, and this necessitates flexibility and openness to change. You won't waste time on extensive bureaucratic documentation or endless meetings.
  • Small, Agile Team: You'll be part of a small team working closely with the Lead Developer, with opportunities for mentorship, coaching, and having your voice heard.
  • Latest Technology: You'll learn valuable and marketable skills across in-demand development platforms like S4/HANA, SAP/ABAP and AWS, as well as crucial industry skills like application design, blueprinting, documentation, database design, and more.
  • Your time is important: You won't be given any make-work projects, or wait for something to do. Every day will be spent on crucial applications to meet business needs.
  • Competitive package: Competitive wages above the PEY average, excellent benefits, discounts on all products, online learning and certification, free swag, and more.
  • Flexible schedule: A hybrid model split between days collaborating in office (1 Adelaide St E) and days working from home. We focus on getting things done, not tracking time in the seat; don't worry about needing a few hours during the day to see your dentist.
  • Tasty Snacks: Free snacks and drinks! Your team lead won't snitch if you take some home.
Job Requirements: Basic Qualifications
  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor's in Comp Sci, Engineering, or a related technical field with at least one remaining semester of school left after completion of the internship.
  • Be enrolled in the University of Toronto's Professional Experience Year Co-op Program (PEY Co-op) or equivalent co-op program
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated software development experience through other internships, personal projects, coding competitions, freelance or part-time work, etc.
  • Programming experience one or more application/systems languages (Go, Python, Ruby, Java, C/C++, etc)
  • A strong grasp of common software development patterns such as object-oriented programming, and of basic data structures and algorithms.
  • An eagerness to learn, pride and ownership in your work, commitment to always doing what is best for the business, and ability to write maintainable, scalable, readable code.
Preferred Disciplines:
Computer Engineering
Computer Science
