About the OFA: The Ontario Financing Authority (OFA) is an agency of the Province of Ontario (Canada), responsible for the Province's treasury operations, including cash management, provincial borrowing, and debt and risk management. About our team: The development team is a small group of people who are responsible for delivering software that enables the execution of the business. We work hand-in-hand with our user community to learn the business, understand their problems, and find ways to move forward. Job Description The OFA is looking to hire a Coop student to act as a Junior Developer. We are looking for someone who displays a passion for technology and thrives in an environment characterized by its fast pace and high level of collaboration between members on the team and the clients. If you are excited about working in a dynamic environment and would like to help shape and build technology solutions then you are the person we are looking for. You will get the opportunity to write software, learn from other developers, work with the latest Microsoft technologies and learn about treasury finance. We are a small group so your responsibilities and challenges are limited only by your imagination. This is a 16 month work term. Compensation is $638.62 - $851.49 per week, determined on work term and OPS salary administration In this role you will: The Junior Developer will, under the direction of a senior developer, provide technical support for a variety of applications, in order to add value to newly installed and existing computer systems. Responsibilities will include: - Assisting in the building of software using VB, C#, and T-SQL; - Implementing and maintaining web applications using ASP .NET, ASP .NET MVC, WCF, Silverlight, and HTML5; - Creating and modifying reports using Active/Crystal Reports; - Performing data validation and comparison; - Learning how the software development life cycle unfolds in the workplace; - Getting familiar with Agile development methodology; - Gathering requirements through interactions with clients and developers; - Writing specification documents and design documents; - Following procedures to maintain Ministry security standards with respect to hardware, software, data integrity, etc.; - Other related duties as assigned, including assisting other developers as required. What we are looking for: - MUST BE ENROLLED IN A CO-OP PROGRAM - Knowledge of VB.NET or C# or Java, C/C++, T-SQL and database design to assist the building of software; - Understanding of object-oriented design, programming and common design patterns to provide programming support; - Understanding of base Microsoft technologies such as Windows Communication Foundation, Integration and Reporting Services; - Knowledge of internet technology to identify and to address user needs; - Written and spoken English skills to write specification and design documents and interact with clients and developers; - Problem-solving skills to solve minor maintenance issues; - A willingness to learn and the ability to make decisions pertaining to software design and implementation in order to learn the software development cycle; - Tact and discretion in dealing with staff at all levels |
