The Role

*Please note: This role will be full-time hours (37.5 hours per week), for a duration of 4 months (May 6 to August 23, 2024).

The AI Research Intern will be involved in developing an AI capability for Compugen focused on a well-defined usage model. The foundation will be to use a Large Language Model (LLM) engine and the objective of this role is to create a local LLM that can run on a standalone basis within a customer's secure network. There is a need to develop a basic understanding of how current models work and what types of applications would be most appropriate. Our goal at Compugen will be to help guide our customers on this journey in a structured manner.

What the Role Entails:
  • Create a fully functioning, local operating version of an LLM that can be tuned for specific business applications
  • Setup and management of this environment under our current preference Llama 2 from Meta
  • Develop excellent skills in using open source dev tools including
    • GitHub and its variants
    • Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow
    • Hugging Face
    • Other tools to be explored
  • Identify specific work flows that would be amenable to the AI model with a focus on an organization's documents
  • Engage and develop working relationships with our vendor partners (Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Lenovo and Microsoft)
  • Participate in training of Compugen staff and engaging with customers
  • Preparation of weekly tracking documentation on progress
Job Qualifications:
  • Proficient in Python, along with experience in popular deep learning frameworks like PyTorch and TensorFlow
  • Experience in developing and customizing local operating versions of Language Models (LLMs) for specific business applications
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and analyze workflows within an organization
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • You must be comfortable working in a hybrid work model with a combination of remote plus onsite work
