We are looking for bright, energetic, motivated students to join Qualcomm’s Canada 2024 intern class!  
  
At Qualcomm Canada, our Compute DSP/AI Processor team is looking for ASIC design and verification engineering interns interested in developing world-class machine learning technologies to transform industries and enrich lives. Under the supervision of an experienced engineer, the intern will contribute to design, verification, and modelling of ASIC HW IP (blocks) and sub-systems that may be used in machine learning end user applications. No background of any application space, such as AI or ML, is required. Through hands on experience, you will learn a wide range of hardware design and verification techniques that transcend end user application.

Responsibilities may include:  
  • Implement modules in hardware design languages such as SystemVerilog and HLS C/C++/ SystemC 
  • Implement tests at both the module and sub-system levels using UVM and SystemVerilog 
  • Implement reference and bus-functional models using C++, SystemC, or Python 
  • Implement design/verification methodology and automation using Python, Perl, or TCL 
  • Implement and debug constraints to achieve netlist synthesis and static timing closure 
  • Make significant contributions to silicon debug and analysis 
  • Step into many phases of ASIC development from specification -> microarchitecture -> RTL coding -> verification -> synthesis -> power analysis  
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications:   
  • Digital logic  
  • Digital design  
  • Verilog/VHDL  
 
One or more of the following qualifications will be an asset:  
  • Relevant academic or personal project experience  
  • Relevant industry experience (internship, summer work, or others)  
  • Computer and multimedia architecture knowledge (CPU, Bus interconnect, Audio, Display, Video, Camera, Graphics)  
  • Knowledge of ASIC design and simulation tool sets (synthesis, simulator)  
  • Knowledge of hardware description languages (Verilog/VHDL, HLS C/C++, SystemVerilog, SystemC)  
  • Knowledge of verification methodology (UVM, assertions, randomization)  
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, Perl, TCL, Shell)  
  • Strong problem solving skills 
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills 
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment 
  
Educational Requirements: 
  • In study towards a bachelors degree in one of the following: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Science, Computer Science, or related field 
  • For 16 month internships: must be available May 2024 - August 2025
