Location: 1 Commerce Valley Dr E, Thornhill, ON L3T 7X6 HYBRID: This is a hybrid role (remote & in-office) as the hiring team will require the student to come to the Markham office 3 days a week. Program Term: 12-month position from May 6, 2024 – April 25, 2025 The Role This role is in the Software Engineering Operations team of AMD’s Radeon Technologies Group and is responsible for operational processes and standards. You will help with tracking of enterprise resources (staff time sheets and forecasts), reporting project costs, driving project tasks, and budget planning, all requiring strong Excel knowledge. You will also manage day-to-day operations and activities while assisting on longer term projects. As such, you will regularly be maintaining and upgrading reporting infrastructure in Power Query, SQL Server and Python. Sample projects include data analysis in periodic reports, report automation using Power Query, resource forecasting modeling, and technical documentation for the various applications/tools we use. What you'll be doing Ownership of compliance and analysis initiatives relating to resource management, process change, and data management. Diagnose and troubleshoot applications and tools issues, while providing training and support to stakeholders on an ad-hoc basis. Engage in process and report automation using Power Query and Python. Communicate horizontally and vertically across several functional organizations, including Management, Engineering, Finance, IT and Human Resources. Working collaboratively with the AMD Project Management Office and Engineering community to help continuous system and process improvement. Administrate multiple databases, as well as take ownership of the SQL Server database for the Operations team. |
| Job Requirements: |
Preferred Qualifications MS Office proficiency with strong proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, Power Query, etc.) and some exposure to MS Project. PowerBI experience is an asset. Experience in data analysis, including basic statistical analysis and visual analysis. Experience in SQL Knowledge of data systems design, governance and administration. Working understanding of relational databases, SQL queries and CRUD operations. Working understanding of database design principles such as normalization and standardization strongly preferred. Experience in Python development for process automation. Project Management or Operation Management experience or interest. Financial analysis and cost-tracking understanding. Strong reporting and business acumen. Good written and verbal communication skills. Self-starter who can work independently. Able to work in a very fast paced environment, with the ability to handle multiple concurrent projects. Key Qualifications 3rd year student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field/discipline Returning to school following the co-op term Written and verbal communication and presentation skills |
