What will your typical day look like?
 
There are no typical days! Working in Risk Consulting offers a dynamic, fast-paced environment, which presents you with the opportunity to continually grow and learn from people with different backgrounds and working styles. Within our Compliance and Operational Risk Consulting Team, you will have the opportunity to work on strategy, advisory, assurance, digital, and management system projects in a broad array of sectors, including retail and consumer business, energy and resources, government and health care, and the public sector. Working with us means that you will be exposed to the leading edge of C&OR practices. 
Within our Risk Data, Analytics and Technology Consulting Team You will have the opportunity to deliver the following types of risk consulting solutions to Global and Canada’s distinguished organizations across the end-to-end Risk Spectrum.

Regardless of which of our teams you work in, you will develop specialized skills and extensive experience to help clients effectively and proactively manage their risks across many risk areas. You will collaborate with multi-service teams to help our clients envision new ways to address and automate risk operations and compliance within their organization. You will challenge yourself to learn and implement new and emerging technologies to solve our clients’ most complex challenges. You will apply advanced analytics methodologies and data management visualization techniques to make impacts and add value to our client’s business.
 
About the team
 
We are the largest Risk Consulting practice in Canada with many teams including the two looking for new team members today.
Our Compliance and Operational Risk Team has experience and expertise spanning Corporate & Regulatory Compliance Program Transformation, Operating Model Development and Implementation, Readiness and Response in the face of regulatory change and/or enforcement across a range of client engagements. We aim to help our clients gain a holistic view of their risks and understand the business and regulatory environments they operate within. This allows organizations to make more informed decisions, proactively identify and manage potential risks and threats quicker, operate with greater accountability, transparency, and efficiency, as well as identify the actions they could take for better outcomes for their business and stakeholders.
Our Risk Data, Analytics and Technology Team is a key capability within Risk Consulting function to provide end-to-end services related to Data and Technology to executives and boards. We support organizations across the full Data and Technology lifecycle of risk management, from data and technology strategy development to reporting, analytics and technology implementation, and our services can enhance their operational efficiency, effectiveness, transparency, compliance, and integrity. This team also is continually supporting clients optimize their risk management capabilities through innovative data & technology solutions and new operating models.

In this role, the expected qualifications are:
 
  • Currently enrolled in the University of Toronto PEY program
  • Interested in gaining regulatory and compliance experience and knowledge (i.e., learning how to apply legislation, regulations, technical standards), risk, and technology transformation initiatives, and/or leading and driving changes
  • Interested in risk management across our risk spectrum
  • Interested in consulting professional services or a client-based environment, functional experience in risk management
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain trustworthy and durable relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize large amounts of information to produce clear, concise, and logical presentations and reports
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced and demanding environment, establish priorities and meet challenging deadlines, both independently and in a team setting
  • A self-starter who is able to conceptualize creative approaches and complex solutions
  • An inclusive team player who is passionate and motivated
  • Curiosity and comfortability with ambiguity
  • Impeccable verbal and written communication skills in English; proficiency in French and Spanish is an asset
  • Willingness to travel to client locations within Canada, the United States, and, if required, overseas
  • Advanced skills in PowerPoint and Excel; experience/familiarity with data analytics and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Cognos, GIS software) is an asset
  • Compliance and Operational Risk Consulting: Familiarity with root cause analysis techniques and risk management frameworks (e.g., Three Lines of Defence model) is an asset
  • Risk Data, Analytics and Technology Consulting: Having experience / familiarity with the data analytics and reporting automation tools (e.g., SQL, Python, R, Excel VBA, Power Apps), data management tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica), data modelling, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load), and/or big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop and Spark) is an asset
