The Center for Accelerated Medical Innovation (CAMI), under Jeff Karp and Yuhan Lee, is seeking multiple full-time research interns with backgrounds in life sciences, engineering, or related fields. Our research group at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, consists of engineers, chemists, biologists, and pharmaceutical scientists. We focus on developing rapidly translatable and radically simple solutions to challenges in drug delivery, diagnostics, and materials science.

The intern will be responsible for multiple tasks:
  • Conceiving, fabricating, and screening new biomaterials/devices for drug delivery.
  • Designing new in vitro and ex vivo models for screening biomaterials/devices.
  • Synthesizing biomaterials/devices, such as microneedles or nanoparticles, using top-down and bottom up approaches.
  • Using standard biochemical and mechanical analysis approaches to characterize, validate, and perform quality control on biomaterials/devices.
  • Testing and evaluating performance of biomaterials/devices in in vivo models.
  • Formalizing and documenting results through presentations and contributions to manuscript figures and text.
Job Requirements: We seek candidates from multiple disciplines in life sciences (biology, biochemistry, physiology), engineering (biological, chemical, biomedical, materials, mechanical), or related fields (chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences). Some lab experience (4+ months) is preferred.
