Physical Design Engineer (Intern)
Alphawave Semi builds industry-leading wired connectivity solutions that enable data to travel faster, more reliably, and with higher performance at lower power. Our technology is embedded in leading-edge semiconductors built to power global network and computer systems. It is an essential part of the core infrastructure enabling next generation services in data centres, artificial intelligence, 5G wireless infrastructure, data networking, autonomous vehicles, and solid-state storage.

What You’ll Do:
  • Exposure to the backend process through the entire implementation flow
  • Assist in the flow scripting and benchmark trial runs
  • Physical synthesis with special focus on power and area optimization trials
  • Clock Tree Synthesis / Optimization trials
  • Static timing verification and timing closure
  • Perform physical verification (DRC,ANT,LVS,ERC,…)
  • Perform EM/IR analysis to reduce power integrity issues and improve the IC design

What you’ll Need:
  • Enrolled in Electrical or Computer Engineering University program
  • Knowledge of industry standard IC design tools (synthesis, simulation, equivalence checking, static timing analysis) is an asset
  • Experience with scripting, Linux/Unix environment
  • Tools/Languages:   Verilog, TCL, Python, Perl, C/C++, GNU Make
  • Some understanding of ASIC/IC design flow
