TOYOTA MOTOR NORTH AMERICA (TMNA) PRODUCTION ENGINEERING (PE):
The Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) Production Engineering (PE) group is involved with new model launch preparation and equipment remodeling. Responsibilities will vary based on the project phase requirements, but typical assignments may include the following:
- "Design for Manufacturing" evaluations of new vehicle body designs, using 3D CAD, Catia software.
- Perform robot and equipment simulations in Catia to determine modification requirements and strategies.
- Create equipment specifications / Study and modify plant layouts using AutoCAD / Procure equipment.
- Working to implement new technology to enhance equipment automation.
- Project management, including strategy, planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
- Plan and lead equipment installation & modification utilizing contactors, vendors, and internal groups.
- Opportunity to gain a technical understanding of mechanical, electrical, controls & communications of automation equipment.
- Apply Engineering problem solving methods balancing Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Cost.

CO-OP ROLE:
The co-op will support project planning, cost forecasting, equipment design review, change management, drawing review, equipment installation site management, 3D scanning and modeling, process flow development, and documentation.

The co-op student will be exposed to the same experiences, leadership opportunities, and responsibilities as the full-time members on the team. The primary focus will be taking new model equipment through the entire development cycle from concept, equipment specification, installation and commissioning to prepare the equipment for use in mass production.

CO-OP PROJECTS:
- Study and develop robot tooling options for unloading of entire side body of the vehicle.
- Stimulate actual equipment operation and motion paths of robotic welding cells/lines.
- Planning, installation, and commissioning of automated welding line fixtures.
- Developing equipment concept for new technology vision system to detect and automatically repair the material application or part handling.

Additional Application Information: TRANSPORTATION:
TMMC is not located on a continuous public transit route. Applicants must posess a valid G2 or G class driver's license and have the ability and willingness to travel between TMMC's Cambridge and Woodstock locations.

COMPENSATION:
Pay rate will be confirmed during interview. Increased hourly rate from the above given range will be offered if experience requirements are met.

HOURS OF WORK:
40 hours per week with the ability and willingness to support overtime and weekend work required. Overtime is paid after 44 hours worked in a week.

TERM DATES:
The co-op term will be from May 6th, 2024 to April 25th, 2025.

ORIENTATION:
Co-op students will be required to attend a TMMC Orientation session for the first 2 days of the work term (May 6th and 7th). There will be additional training on the Toyota Business Practice. Please note this is a required activity that all new co-op students must attend.
